Women’s World Banking has developed a full suite of financial and social performance indicators that allow financial institutions to analyze outreach to women, suitability of product design to meet women’s needs, product diversity, service quality, client protection, and staff gender diversity, as well as to understand how serving women clients contributes to their financial sustainability and generates positive social outcomes.

The gender performance indicators are, by design, highly detailed and comprehensive. However, a key consideration during their development was the practicality and use for financial institutions. Not every institution has the same priorities or resources. For that reason, Women’s World Banking has ranked each indicator on a scale of 1 to 5 for estimated degree of complexity. Realizing that not all institutions are ready to intensively track all these indicators, we have come up with The Select Five Gender Performance Indicators, the minimum your institution must measure in order to track and improve gender performance.
